Walk from Tritons’ Fountain into Valletta with Dark Malta Tours for two hours of ghost stories, murder, church mysteries, and the truth behind Jean de Valette. Guides such as Mario use cliff-hanger storytelling. Expect hills, outdoor walking, and a finish near the Grand Master’s Palace.

“Mario our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was very interesting. As frequent visitors to Malta we learnt some new information doing this tour. While I would recommend this tour you do need to be mobile and fit as Valletta is very hilly and you do walk right down to the bottom and back up. It was a great night.”

The Food & History Private Tour of Malta

6.The Food & History Private Tour of Malta

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 44 reviews · 4 to 5 hours (approx.) · from $167

Spend four to five hours with a private guide exploring Mdina, Rabat, Mosta, and, on one option, Valletta. Expect pastizzi, Maltese dishes, dessert, wine, and stories about local life. Guides including Chris, Catherine, and Lorraine have earned praise, but food quality and arrangements can vary.

“The tour guide was excellent but some of the local foods were not available. My main reason for the the poor score was the administration of the service which was a disaster. It is unfortunate because it could have been much more enjoyable experience. Basically, Viator messed up the pickup location and I wasted time on the phone to salvage the situation. In the end the tour started an hour later and fortunately we had no other time commitments. If one had to make a boat departure it is possible the delay would have devastated the rest of your trip. What made matters worse Viator made me pay for a…”

You travel from Sliema or Bugibba to Gozo by Captain Morgan’s iSee Malta catamaran, then use two sightseeing bus routes to reach Victoria, the Citadel, Ġgantija, Dwejra, Xlendi, and seven included heritage sites. The pass lasts about seven hours, but bus schedules require careful planning.

“The boat trip over to Gozo was fine but when we tried to access the hop on bus (which was included in the price we paid) the woman on the bus refused us saying we booked through a third party therefore we could not get on the bus!!! We were left stranded at the ferry port!!! We then had to pay for a taxi to take us to to where the bus SHOULD have taken us! Not impressed to say the least. We felt ripped off and let down. (Cost was €120)”
